According to the news published on the Washington, DC Academic Circle of Knowledge Society (知社學術圈) , on 8 February (USA Eastern Standard Time), Mr. Zhang Dongxiao, currently the Dean of the College of Engineering at Peking University and the independent non-executive Director of CGN NEW ENERGY HOLDINGS CO., LTD., was elected as a member of the National Academy of Engineering for the year of 2017, being one the 84 elected members and one of the 22 elected foreign members as well as one of the Chinese scholars who has such honor.

Prof. Zhang Dongxiao currently serves as the Dean of the College of Engineering at Peking University and he is elected due to his pioneering work in porous medium fluid stochastic simulation. Prof. Zhang obtained a Bachelor Degree from Northeastern University, held positions at the University of Southern California and the University of Oklahoma, the United States of America, enrolled in the Thousand Talents Program of the Organization Department of the Central Committee of the CPC and assisted Prof. Chen Shiyi to found the College of Engineering at Peking University.
